Memories

Memories are very powerful and important. They knit reality inside of our head. They hold emotion and pain. When we make decisions we go to our memories for aid. Most of consciousness lies within our ability to remember. Memories are networks of complex feelings and images. Information collected over time. They can be beautiful summer days or a scar of hurt and pain. They can hinder and gnaw at your conscience. They can fill your soul with remorse. Memories can make you overflow with faith, joy and excitement. This is what makes memories precious pieces of reality.    By Joshua C.  Period 5

Banner of Love Buckets

The bucket is a metaphor for our hearts, because our hearts need to be filled like buckets Mrs. Medina had her Bible class students pick a name of another student in the class. The person who's name was picked didn't know who had their rain drop to put in their bucket. So they eventually found out who had their name. The students wrote compliments on the raindrops to the person they picked. We are wondering what you do at your schools to make people feel loved and happy?

We had an Essay Contest last November called the Patriot’s Pen with a theme “What Patriotism Means To Me.” It is open to students in grades 6-8 in the United States. There are prizes at the local, district, and State levels of the competition. The national winner will win $5,000. Fortunately, I won the local division and hopefully I will win the national division.

While we read this story we would have each person on our group have a name tag saying predictor, summarizer, questioner, or clarifier.
The predictor would tell the group what they thought the author would tell about in the next section. The summarizer would record and tell the group the main idea of the passage and the important supporting details. The questioner would ask questions (on the top or below the surface questions). The clarifier would ask if anyone got stuck on a word or an idea.

Scribe Reports

We have been doing a lot of fun things this week. We have been learning about how
to write persuasive essays and we have been writing our civilization essay for
social studies. A lot of people like working on social studies during Mrs. Medina’s
class time. This week has been great! We have learned so much!

Last week in Language Arts 6 we talked about inferences, which is the process of
arriving at a thought based on what you have read. On Tuesday we
learned about similarities and differences. On Wedsnday we learned about cause
and effect. Then on Thursday we watched All Summer in a Day. And today we are
taking a test. Ben
